Thanks for this reminiscient (my word) experience, Tim. Fun to remember JP's classic film class. Didn't you go into the tunnels with us? I got pics, lol. That Ray Bradbury meeting is very special, and a great family heirloom! I look forward to more of your reminissings. :)
Thanks Gina. I thought about listing people in that film class but it’s been awhile and I figured I’d leave out too many. Always envied you for the tunnel exploration! I look at pics of the place now and it’s built out and has about 4x as many students. Have been back but don’t much like it, a postmodern architectural idea of the bright future. I loved the old scene too much to swallow that.
I think a little of its left but a lot more has been paved over. Very different look and feel to the place now. Kind of a bummer. Haven’t been down there in 11 years, not in a hurry to go again.
Her name was Virginia. You cried. I'll never forget.
I still have some of your HS art, I kept some things that are meaningful to me... your's, Benbenek, Me Gogos Carmen.
The 'Wood didn't prepare most of us for College. Who knew studying was a thing. My own crash was at Calpoly, Pomona. Eventually returned for a BS and MSc. Just 'retired' from 12 years teaching there.
Something Wicked was my favorite. I think either you or Jay turned me on to it.
Thanks for sharing. It helps put events into context.
Thanks so much Tracy. It means a lot, remembering all that. And hanging onto the art too. LHS had a lot of vet teachers and some were on cruise control for sure. Others much tougher and gung ho. I credit my classes w/Kemper for getting me interested in writing and Mr Veltman for providing a great example of a thoroughly schemed and stimulating example of what can be done with a complex subject like bio. And of course Rikki had a huge positive impact. The high stakes atmosphere kids are dipped in now is a bit much I think.

I agree! We were there at a great time. Apparently the Eucalyptus Grove is no more. How sad!
